Nadi, Fiji — Community leaders from around the Pacific will learn to assemble solar energy systems pioneered by Philippine renewable energy advocates, to reduce the strain of the rising fuel costs and provide emergency energy during power outages. Global instability has caused global fuel prices to skyrocket across the Asia Pacific, inducing states of emergency, electricity rationing and necessary government subsidies.

WHAT: In a training organised by 350.org Pacific and the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities in the Philippines, participants from Fiji, Tuvalu and Vanuatu will join the Solar Scholars program, and assist with two community solar PV installations in Yavulo Village, Sigatoka and Lautoka.
